Rumours of a Drug Bust in Parkview

Many Police vehicles were seen last week in front of a property on Sheffield Drive. After the Police had left, residents noticed a pickup and a sedan not from me area on Sheffield Drive. If anyone has details, please reply to this post or click on Report Incident link.

Our Park – Update

His Worship the Mayor of Chaguanas, Dr. Surujrattan Rambachan, recently met with several Parkview residents to read and sign a letter drafted by the Borough to be submitted to the Minister. The letter properly documents the Park situation and requests the Minister to respond to the concerns within 14 days. The residents provided information requested by the Mayor including a petition and other documents.

This is an encouraging sign and we continue to monitor the progress with the Park issue very closely.

Parkview Developer Issue – A Summary

Unscrupulous Developer is trying to take 50% of our Park and force us to accept a new area by the ‘Triangle’ which is next to an effluent retention pond. Notwithstanding the potential health and safety issues associated with this action, forcing this land upon us and destroying our park will remove the benefit of access to a centrally located area by all residents and therefore divide the community.

The issue has been raised with the Mayor of Chaguanas who has endorsed that the Developer’s action is unethical. The Mayor has promised to do what he can to put a stop to the action but the Developer is still proceeding with his works. Residents have indicated that in addition to the construction of a thick concrete wall to divide the Park to the detriment of the residents, the Developer has barricaded the Sheffield Drive entrance with tall galvanise and is constructing a new temporary structure.

This Developer does not care about the community or the views of the Mayor of Chaguanas. Surely this is wrong.

Aside from dividing the community, the Developer has no problem in having our children play next to a waste Retention Pond. See pictures below.

Parkview Developer Issue – Fence Up; Fence Down

Fence Up – The Developer seems to be proceeding in developing the Triangle area next to the unhealthy Retention Pond and is erecting a fence around the premises. This is a slap in the face of the residents who want the overall issue arbitrated and resolved before any more activity is progressed.

Fence Down – The fence erected by the Developer to divide the community recreational area was observed to be in shreds by several residents. Many residents are bewildered about this action. If anyone has knowledge of this activity please provide the details since this could be counter productive to initiatives already in train.

Fellow residents I have already contacted an attorney to offer legal advice since the mayor did not fulfill his obligations to us. Anyone interested can contact me at 672-8157/751-7471. Residents must note that we must be prepared to protect our rights and our community. Also a neighbourhood directory is being prepared, we would like to get emails for all residents as well.

Parkview Developer not served with letter

Residents of Parkview Development are concerned that the Mayor’s office was not in a position to serve the Developer with a letter requesting all construction work to cease pending a thorough investigation of the inappropriate park subdivision and relocation situation as was expected by 4:00pm yesterday (Monday, January 22nd, 2008).

This has resulted in several residents being committed to doing additional research in all matters related to the transaction. Legal action against the developer is also now being considered.

Any resident with information relating to an appropriate lawyer with a track record in handling such matters is asked to e-mail the details to parkviewtimes@gmail.com .
